Join TREE for a Timeless Night in Tacoma: an evening filled with wine and beer tasting, cascades of artisans food, musical artists and our game room!
TREE has restored the former Nisqually Power Substation back to life. Bringing the heartbeat back to Tacoma’s Historic Brewery District, they open their doors to offer timeless, sustainable eco-furnishings and style to the Pacific Northwest.
TREE is the decades-long culmination of a lifelong dream come true. TREE founder Nicole Wakley, former attorney from London, moved to Hong Kong to pursue her successful legal career and instead found her inner-calling. This was the beginning of TREE; a seed was planted for Nicole to pursue her passion for design and sustainable style. Traveling the world, she discovered unique, nostalgic pieces that captured the beauty of their vibrant cultures and values, and partnered with artisans who shared her values of stewardship with nature, and whose lives became an integral part of the TREE dream.
Nicole first opened TREE’s doors in 2005 with a vision to bring together contemporary design and traditional handcraftsmanship to create timeless furniture made to last a lifetime. After the success of her first flagship store in Hong Kong, TREE has since opened four further destinations within Asia.
Now, Nicole is bringing TREE to the U.S. market, taking root in the Pacific Northwest. She and her young family have moved to Washington State to enjoy the local culture and signature lifestyle that resonate with so many who choose to call it home, making the West Coast the perfect place to launch TREE in the U.S.
TREE’s stunning gallery, formerly the Nisqually Power Substation, brings rich historical heritage to downtown Tacoma. Once the heartbeat of the city in the 1910s, it was one of the first in the country to introduce water-powered energy. Today, TREE is proud to bring new life and a new heartbeat back to this nostalgic space, with modern furnishings that preserve classical style and hand-crafted techniques. It is this union of modern nostalgia that gives every TREE piece, hand-made with love, the perfect balance of style and soul.
The perfect "one-stop shop" for eco-chic elegance, TREE brings the same level of care to furnishing a tiny home in the forest as a large waterfront property on the Sound. From small home projects to larger office, business, hotel and hospitality projects, TREE is the ideal balance of style and sustainability.
TREE’s roots go deep with stunning pieces that capture the story of their reclaimed, salvaged and sustainably sourced materials. From their signature collections using salvaged teak from old homes, railroad carriers, and boats, to the look of clean, contemporary pieces made from sustainably sourced rich walnut and light oak, every eco-wood piece from TREE has a story to tell.
While beautiful solid wood is firmly at the heart of TREE, you’ll find a host of other natural and eco materials running through their one-of-a-kind antiques and home furnishings. Their stylish sofas are not only chic but also handcrafted in Los Angeles from FSC™-certified wood and chemical-free EcoWool, with beautiful bespoke organic fabrics to choose from. Their luxury throws are knit with love and made in the U.S. using upcycled yarns and recycled plastic bottles. Their gorgeous rugs woven from natural materials such as jute and seagrass, and upcycled denim are the perfect piece to bring any living space together. From the hands that craft with love and care, to the memories created around each piece in your home – these are the stories that connect us all.
Experience these stories as TREE opens their doors for the first time in the U.S. on Thursday October 5th 2017.
