Feb 7 Anthem Coffee Old Town Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting
Join the team at Anthem Coffee-Old Town as they celebrate their grand opening with a ribbon cutting and open house. Stop by for this opportunity to meet team leadership and drink some coffee!
About Anthem Coffee
Anthem came into existence on 11.1.11. The 5 years of being in the coffee industry, leading up to the launch of Anthem, served as a testing and training ground for what we would become. During that time we established our culture and customer service style. To be honest with you, the beverages that we serve are only secondary to the heroic hospitality and exceptional customer service we have come to be known for. Ask anyone and they’ll tell you why they continue to come back day after day. Yeah, the coffee is great, but it’s the people (The Anthem Team) that keep the people coming back!
Everything about Anthem - from the barstools to the baristas - is consistent with our vision to create a place where people can share life together over handcrafted food and beverages.
Since 2006, our flagship location in downtown Puyallup has been a community hub for locals, creatives and entrepreneurs. We’ve now spread the Anthem love to Tacoma with a store nestled in the heart of the UW Tacoma campus and Downtown Museum District.
We’re called ANTHEM because we encourage others to “Live Loud” and live passionately in all they do. This has been part of our DNA from the very beginning, in ways both zany and inspiring. Regulars know that waiting in line at ANTHEM is the norm. We say, “A line is a good sign, it means there’s something worth waiting for."
When a barista grabs the megaphone, be prepared for anything from a greeting in Shakespearean English to a live reading of Kanye’s Twitter feed. We like to laugh here. We’ve also created an environment where new friends, customers and our team can connect, collaborate and share their stories, art and music. Bands have formed at Anthem, creative partnerships have been made, and there have even been a few good romances in the mix (we’re a sucker for those). Stop by, have a sip and tell us about your ANTHEM.

Tammie Hetrick, IOM SHRM-CP PHR
Chief Operating Officer
Washington Retail Association
She is the association’s representative to the Department of Labor & Industries and works with the state legislature on public policies that impact association members. She is an expert in the state-funded insurance laws, knows the key state leaders who are involved in the state fund, and has participated on various state committees where policy might help or hurt WRA members since 1999. She provides on-site training support to members and does public speaking to various groups.
As COO, Tammie provides creative support and strong leadership for the growth of the retrospective rating program which has increased company participation by over $7 million in premiums since she began at WRA in 1999. Members have enjoyed a return of over $3 million dollars during this time. She has been successful in growing the services to Retro members, put together a dynamic team of workers’ compensation specialists and developed numerous techniques to help manage the sophisticated and challenging work of on-the-job injuries. She has developed member support services for those who do not qualify for Retro, but need help with claims consulting. She has invested staff education in self-insurance services and invested funds in technology so that reports to National self-insured clients meet their expectations.
In 2007 her success at WRA provided the association the opportunity to form a subsidiary where services to the members are now performed. A Board of Directors now works to discuss service needs, contracts, funds, and staffing growth.
Tammie has been in business for herself, worked in a law firm as a paralegal and worked with the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals as the company representative. Her business career includes evenings preparing payroll, long range business planning and an understanding of the importance of employee development to support creativity, sustain successful and consistent work products, and provide quick response to customer needs.

What is Your Website For? A Brief Guide To Measuring Success Presented by
Joe Izenman
Data Scientist
SiteCrafting
At the start of any new web project, it’s easy to jump straight into data collection, user research, design, and even development, and breeze by one very important question: what is this website for? As organizations big and small embrace a data-driven philosophy, and start collecting and retaining every last inch of customer behavior data, having concrete goals with quantifiable metrics goes a long way toward making all that data genuinely useful.
We’ll walk through several common website goals, and discuss how they connect to business goals, and the metrics that help us measure them. The we'll explore how these metrics lay the foundation for generating valuable data science insights, through experimentation and prediction, as you grow your data-driven organization.

Feb 14 Military Affairs Forum 2/14/18
Military Affairs Forum
Military Affairs Forum works to enhance communication and opportunities between the civilian community and defense installations.
Western Air Defense Sector "Guarding America's Skies"
Lt Col Brian Bergren 225th Air Defense Squadron Director of Operations Lt Col Eric Corder 225th ADS Assistant Director of Operations
Lt Col Bergren and Lt Col Corder will be sharing WADS' latest efforts around Hurricane Harvey support, Super Bowl 52 support and the State Partnership Program participation in Guatemala.
The Western Air Defense Sector, with headquarters at McChord Field, Washington State, is the largest of three sectors responsible to the Continental U.S. North American Area Defense Region - First Air Force (CONR-1AF) and the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) for peacetime air sovereignty, strategic air defense, and airborne counterdrug operations in the continental United States.
WADS is a Washington Air National Guard unit which operationally reports directly to First Air Force at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. WADS is one of two sectors responsible to NORAD's aerospace warning and control mission.
The men and women of the Western Air Defense Sector detect, identify, track and can scramble fighters to intercept unknown or threatening airborne objects as part of their mission to guard America's skies 24 hours a day, seven days a week of nearly 73% of the United States and Canada.
Their team is a bi-national and joint service unit. Soldiers, sailors, airmen, Canadian Forces personnel, DoD civilians, and government contractors all comprise the WADS team. Only about 20 percent of the Western Air Defense Sector team are traditional Air Guardsmen who serve one weekend per month and two weeks a year.
